"Supercon" Impressions

I didn't like it.

Thanks for coming, see you next time. Nah, I'm just kidding. It was a fine show. It was just a lot of chaos and too much bustle. They had a lot of "guests" but not a lot to make them stand out from the crowd. The Raleigh "Suprecon" seemed like it was just an excuse to put all these people in the same area so there was an easier way to get our money. There wasn't a bunch of fan experience going on. Great cosplayers, and good people but nothing that made it special to me.

I'm used to shows like NC Comicon in Durham or Heroescon in Charlotte that really bring out the essence of the city around it. Yes, the Suprecon folks invited the "Color of Fandom" to speak at the show and a few other area staples, but it just felt... hollow? Hopefully a couple people from my favorite shows were there and could see what they did well. They DID pack the house for 3 days, and had plenty of our favorite artists and celebrities... BUT they could have made the experience more personal, and less chaotic.

But don't take my work for it. Come out to NC Comicon in November and see for yourself. We'll be there. I hope you will be too.
